9. February, 2018Uncategorized

On Sunday, February 11, All Saints celebrates the Last Sunday after the Epiphany at two services of Holy Eucharist at 8 am and 10 am. Copies of special Lenten materials and the new Forward Day by Day will be available for you.

Please consider worshiping at 8 am now that this service has returned to the Sunday morning schedule.

Nicolette Martin will teach Church School. The Altar Guild will host a special Valentine’s Day themed Coffee Hour.

Congratulations to Jennifer Haemmerle whose birthday is today, February 8.

In the week ahead, the season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. All Saints will worship on Ash Wednesday at 12 noon and 6 pm. Also, you’re invited to “Ashes to Go” at the corner of Broad Avenue and Fort Lee Road from 2:30 – 3:30 pm. Every year a surprising number of our neighbors and receive ashes and a blessing. Come and see.

Now is a good time to help neighbors in need by giving food to the Center for Food Action. Marjorie Clark delivers our donations, which are gathered in baskets in the narthex. High-quality, non-perishable food items are recommended, including canned soups (Campbell’s Chunky Style is very popular), pasta, and canned fish, fruit, and vegetables.

Now is also a good time (for those who have not done so) to make a pledge for 2018.

The Child Care Center and Church Office will be closed on Monday, February 19 in honor of Presidents’ Day. Please keep in mind that the Church Office hours are Monday – Thursday from 10 am – 6 pm. I’m generally in my office in the afternoon and by appointment at other times.

The Vestry will meet on Wednesday, February 28 at 7:30 pm.

Thanks to Vicky Beall for making this information available: As you’re aware, Leonia has placed traffic restrictions (“The Safe Streets Initiative”) on many of its streets, including Park Avenue, from 6 am-10 am and 4 pm – 9 pm. Judah Ziegler, Leonia’s mayor, has now published a proposed amendment. He’s recommending to the Borough Council that the phrase “and Leonia destinations” be added in the ordinance in every place where it says “Leonia residents.” He is further recommending that the many signs about town which state “Residents Exempt” be replaced with signs which state “Residents and Leonia destinations exempt.” Thus, non-residents coming to or leaving All Saints Church and Child Care Center would not be subject to a warning, or a fine, which the Mayor assures us, was always the Borough’s intent.

God bless you and those whom you love.
